List of people from Ebonyi State
editHello. Your recent edit to List of people from Ebonyi State appears to have added the name of a non-notable entity to a list that normally includes only notable entries. In general, a person, organization or product added to a list should have a pre-existing article before being added to most lists. If you wish to create such an article, please first confirm that the subject qualifies for a separate, stand-alone article according to Wikipedia's notability guideline. Thank you. - Arjayay (talk) 17:04, 11 December 2021 (UTC)
They are not non-notable? I intend creating those pages Amaekuma (talk) 18:03, 11 December 2021 (UTC)
Please refrain from making unconstructive edits to Wikipedia, as you did at List of people from Ebonyi State. Your edits appear to constitute vandalism and have been reverted. If you would like to experiment, please use your sandbox. Repeated vandalism may result in the loss of editing privileges.
The article clearly states ♦♦♦ Only add a person to this list if they already have their own article on the English Wikipedia ♦♦♦, so don't add them until their articles have been accepted - Arjayay (talk) 18:06, 11 December 2021 (UTC)

edit Thank you for contributing to the article Draft:Adamu Garba II. However, please do not use unreliable sources such as blogs, your own website, websites and publications with a poor reputation for checking the facts or with no editorial oversight, expressing views that are widely acknowledged as extremist, that are promotional in nature, or that rely heavily on rumors and personal opinions, as one of Wikipedia's core policies is that contributions must be verifiable through reliable sources, preferably using inline citations. If you require further assistance, please look at Help:Contents/Editing Wikipedia, or ask at the Teahouse. Thank you. Kuru (talk) 15:21, 26 December 2021 (UTC)
Hi. Thanks for reaching out to me.
Cited in the draft are reliable third party sources ranging from BBC to many other reputable Nigerian media houses. If you find the tone of the draft bias, it's obviously because Adamu is a controversial character and that isn't my fault. Those are their words not mine. editHi - I see you've asked a number of users to be your mentor. You would be better off asking at the Teahouse or one of the active users listed Wikipedia:Adopt-a-user/Adoptee's Area rather than targetting users at random. edit Hello, I'm Ab207. I noticed that you added or changed content in an article, Project K (film), but you didn't provide a reliable source. It's been removed and archived in the page history for now, but if you'd like to include a citation and re-add it, please do so. You can have a look at referencing for beginners. If you think I made a mistake, you can leave me a message on my talk page.
Please do not restore unsourced info. The WP:BURDEN is on you to make sure it's verifiable, even if you were simply reverting an edit. Diff: [1] Ab207 (talk) 05:37, 10 July 2022 (UTC)
Hello @Ab207:, I 'undid' vandalism on the page, so I don't understand what you mean. Amaekuma (talk) 06:01, 10 July 2022 (UTC)
- Recommend reading WP:VANDALISM:
"Even if misguided, willfully against consensus, or disruptive, any good faith effort to improve the encyclopedia is not vandalism."
The IP was simply removing unsourced character names in good faith, so it is far from being called "vandalism." Reverting such an edit doesn't improve the encyclopedia, it only worsens by perpetuating the unsourced content present in the article. Hope you understand. Regards -- Ab207 (talk) 06:09, 10 July 2022 (UTC)
Even though what you're typing here to me makes no sense whatsoever, I acknowledge you. Bye. Amaekuma (talk) 12:44, 10 July 2022 (UTC)
I reversed the edit because an anonymous user was removing content so I reversed it to the last known good edit.
Did the anonymous user include citation to the edit he deleted? An anonymous user can't just remove information that has been on Wikipedia without providing citation.
I stand by what I did because it's the right thing. @Ab207:.
Amaekuma (talk) 18:00, 10 July 2022 (UTC)
- They are free to remove unverifiable information from the encyclopedia. Also, how can anyone logically provide a citation to remove the information? The burden of proof lies on those who adds/restores the material, NOT the one who removes. Unsourced content can never be the "last known good edit."
- You could say that the IP didn't explain their removal in edit summary but even you didn't give an edit summary which could have helped others in judging the situation. So kindly try to use edit summaries when reverting other's edits. -- Ab207 (talk) 18:20, 10 July 2022 (UTC)
@Ab207: I don't need to give an edit summary when reversing vandalism using the undo button, that is the rule.
I acknowledge you for reaching out, and I don't mean to sound rude however this conversation is done because it isn't heading anywhere.

editPlease refrain from making unconstructive edits to Wikipedia, as you did at Kim Oprah. Your edits appear to be disruptive and have been or will be reverted.
- If you are engaged in an article content dispute with another editor, please discuss the matter with the editor at their talk page, or the article's talk page, and seek consensus with them. Alternatively, you can read Wikipedia's dispute resolution page, and ask for independent help at one of the relevant noticeboards.
- If you are engaged in any other form of dispute that is not covered on the dispute resolution page, please seek assistance at Wikipedia's Administrators' noticeboard/Incidents.
Please ensure you are familiar with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines, and please do not continue to make edits that appear disruptive. Continued disruptive editing may result in loss of editing privileges. Please do not restore trivial information to BLPs, and please indicate, in an edit summary, what you are doing. Thank you. Drmies (talk) 14:01, 13 August 2022 (UTC)
- Hello Drmies. Calling my edit disruptive is overreacting and far-reaching.
- You made an edit where you removed well sourced information about her personal life calling them "trivial". You can't describe things about someone's personal life as "trivial", especially since everyone has different tastes and what is important to one person might not be important to another. Also, personal life subsection is meant to contain more informal and casual information than maybe a career subsection. That is my thought process. And I don't believe you know everything. Amaekuma (talk) 16:20, 13 August 2022 (UTC)
- Unexplained reinsertion of challenged material is disruptive--it's really quite simple. And no, "personal life" still needs to be encyclopedic, sourced, and relevant. Thank you. Drmies (talk) 14:57, 14 August 2022 (UTC)

You have shown interest in articles about living or recently deceased people, and edits relating to the subject (living or recently deceased) of such biographical articles. List of candidates in the 2023 Nigerian general elections moved to draftspace
editAn article you recently created, List of candidates in the 2023 Nigerian general elections, is not suitable as written to remain published. It needs more citations from reliable, independent sources. (?) Information that can't be referenced should be removed (verifiability is of central importance on Wikipedia). I've moved your draft to draftspace (with a prefix of "Draft:
" before the article title) where you can incubate the article with minimal disruption. When you feel the article meets Wikipedia's general notability guideline and thus is ready for mainspace, please click on the "Submit your draft for review!" button at the top of the page. PS: What’s the essence of this list though? It doesn't look encyclopaedic. Best, Reading Beans (talk) 04:43, 1 November 2022 (UTC)
Reading Beans Hello. I don't mean to be rude or come across as abrasive, however I'm data analyst and I know for a fact that one of the best sources of properly vetted data is getting data that is generated by government. That's why I cited the official website of INEC; who are the government department in charge of elections in Nigeria.
However, if you need me to put in other third party sources on the page, I can. I already put one third party source but they all got their data from the INEC source and it's just going to be a repetition. Amaekuma (talk) 07:04, 1 November 2022 (UTC)
- @Amaekuma, that’s not the point. This list is already in 2023 Nigerian presidential election. It’s already there. The list—-to me—-does not seem to be encyclopaedic. Are there list of this for the presidential election of other countries? Best, Reading Beans (talk) 07:15, 1 November 2022 (UTC)
Exactly Reading Beans, you missed the whole point. The idea of this is for the general elections (presidential, guber, senate) and what you're showing me is for just the presidential elections. I intend to keep expanding the list. Your message came in by 4AM local time (I was sleeping so I wasn't editing). Amaekuma (talk) 09:56, 1 November 2022 (UTC)

Categories on draftspace pages
editFor future reference, when you're moving a page from draft to mainspace, the equation is not "add categories while the page is still in draft form and then move the page afterward" -- it's "move page and then add categories afterward", because doing it backward can sometimes cause other unintended issues. Less than a week ago, I had to manually redo a page move by somebody else who had done the same thing, because the act of having added the categories first and then moving the page second caused the redirect from the draft title to linger on system maintenance reports days after it shouldn't have been there anymore, so I had to put the page back into draft and then redo the move a second time to fix it. So it's not "add categories first, move page second" -- it's "move page first, add categories second". And it's also not "revert prior removal of categories that weren't allowed to be there while the page was in draft form", either: reverting is only for "this edit was actually incorrect or improper in the first place", not for "the page is now being moved so now it's time to readd the categories". Wikipedia and copyright
editHello Amaekuma! Your additions to Kelechi Onuzuruike have been removed in whole or in part, as they appear to have added copyrighted content without evidence that the source material is in the public domain or has been released by its owner or legal agent under a suitably-free and compatible copyright license. (To request such a release, see Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission.) While we appreciate your contributions to Wikipedia, there are certain things you must keep in mind about using information from sources to avoid copyright and plagiarism issues.
- You can only copy/translate a small amount of a source, and you must mark what you take as a direct quotation with double quotation marks (") and cite the source using an inline citation. You can read about this at Wikipedia:Non-free content in the sections on "text". See also Help:Referencing for beginners, for how to cite sources here.
- Aside from limited quotation, you must put all information in your own words and structure, in proper paraphrase. Following the source's words too closely can create copyright problems, so it is not permitted here; see Wikipedia:Close paraphrasing. Even when using your own words, you are still, however, asked to cite your sources to verify the information and to demonstrate that the content is not original research.
- We have strict guidelines on the usage of copyrighted images. Fair use images must meet all ten of the non-free content criteria in order to be used in articles, or they will be deleted. To be used on Wikipedia, all other images must be made available under a free and open copyright license that allows commercial and derivative reuse.
- If you own the copyright to the source you want to copy or are a legally designated agent, you may be able to license that text so that we can publish it here. Understand, though, that unlike many other sites, where a person can license their content for use there and retain non-free ownership, that is not possible at Wikipedia. Rather, the release of content must be irrevocable, to the world, into either the public domain (PD) or under a suitably-free and compatible copyright license. Please see Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials.
- Also note that Wikipedia articles may not be copied or translated without attribution. If you want to copy or translate from another Wikipedia project or article, you must follow the copyright attribution steps described at Wikipedia:Copying within Wikipedia. See also Help:Translation#License requirements.
It's very important that contributors understand and follow these practices, as policy requires that people who persistently do not must be blocked from editing. If you have any questions about this, please ask them here on this page, or leave a message on my talk page. Thank you. — Diannaa (talk) 13:40, 31 March 2023 (UTC)
