ヒ stroke order

edit

Hi,

It would be interesting to give a source (online or offline) concerning the direction of the first stroke in the stroke order diagram for the katakana ヒ. It seems to me that the stroke order given here (first stroke right to left) is the less common one, although I do not have a definitive answer. Japanese people that I have asked have almost all told me they write it left to right. I have also heard there is no officially published rule or guideline, meaning that there is no "correct" or "incorrect" way of writing the character. Still, it would be interesting to have an expert opinion on the matter.

Online sources:

Thanks.

The left-to-right stroke order seems to be more consistent with the rules for writing Kanji correctly. Seeing as the katakana are essentially just parts of the Manyougana Kajni to begin with, the stroke order diagram would appear incorrect. That and Tsukimori-sensei taught me hook, then dash. you can say "hi" to many people as long as you dont say it to strangers then you will be fine — Preceding unsigned comment added by Jaaye (talkcontribs) 00:17, 6 February 2017 (UTC)Reply
