English: Great Cave in Rugova Gorge is a rare beauty of the underground terrains in Kosovo.
It is estimated that this cave is one of the most attractive natural objects for the conduction of research and tourist expeditions, not only in The Cursed Mountains, but also in the Western Balkan region.
Grand Canyon Cave is located on the eighth kilometer of Rugova, about 90 meters above the river bed Lumëbardh in Peja, while the cave entrance is located at 637 meters altitude.
On February 2011, in the cave was conducted a research expedition.
The expedition was organized as a result of cooperation between the Association of Speleologists "Aragon” from Peja, Environmental Protection Agency of Kosovo and a team from the Republic of Slovakia.
During this expedition new corridors and galleries of the cave have been explored.
The length of the corridors and galleries explored is about 13,450 meters.
Corridors and galleries of the Great Cave are rich in crystals of rare scientific and touristic value. It is created by water flow in Triassic rocks. Inside the cave there are several rivers and underground lakes of different shapes and sizes, which have contributed to the expansion of the corridors and underground galleries. It is estimated that Grand Canyon Cave has rare natural, scientific, hydro, biological and educational and touristic values.
