Looking at just early life so far, there's a fair bit in the sources that's not in the article that I think is worthwhile to add from a breadth perspective:

  • The Independent discusses the intensity of his training regime under his father, and specifies that Victoria's Snooker Academy focuses on Chinese players looking to start playing in the UK (looking into it there are a few more sources on the academy, which may or may not be in-scope for this article), as well as the context Si exists in regarding the popularity of snooker in China
  • Hangzhou Net (is there a reason this one links to the archive first rather than the live article first, and why the link is to a single page rather than the full article?) clarifies that Si was involved in pretty-big-deal tournaments in his table tennis days (Hangzhou is thirteen million people), how soon after picking up snooker/billiards sports he started participating in national competitions, and that he dropped out of school in 2013 to play full-time

I think these omissions would be worthwhile to add to aid in "covering the main aspects of the topic" -- they're alluded a little (e.g. the amount that Si practiced when he was 10 is mentioned), but both the fact Victoria's focuses on Chinese players specifically and the fact Si left school so young were unexpected when I found them in the sources. I've looked over the article a little and have some other thoughts, but I'm mentioning these first because they're most directly GA-criteria-related. Thanks so much for your feedback, @Vaticidalprophet. I've added some info from the articles above that I hope addresses your comments. I was unable to establish exactly how old Si was when he first began playing cue sports or participating in youth tournaments. It's definitely noteworthy that he dropped out of school aged 11 to train full-time. I don't find much on his table tennis career other than that he placed second at a tournament at his school and also participated in other tournaments in the city. I don't find much to suggest that he had exceptional ability or success at table tennis — in fact, his teacher suggests that he may have been a better player had he started earlier.
I also added some more info on Victoria's Snooker Academy. It's mostly but not exclusively comprised of Chinese players — Thai women's world champion Mink Nutcharut also trains there, as does English player Ashley Hugill, as two non-Chinese examples. I agree (I was just coming over to implement these changes and saw they were already done :) ). Looks like HH has taken a look at this and agree with their points. Lee Vilenski (talkcontribs) 13:13, 26 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Early life section is looking great now -- thanks, guys! The article is in fairly good shape overall, so just combing through a little...
  • Dongbaihu is a district of Zhuji (basically a satellite town), and it's probably more natural to mention both in the same sense you'd want to specify something being an exurb/satellite of a larger city elsewhere. Dongbaihu [zh] can also be interlanguage-linked.

  • By age 10, Si was practising for 13 hours a day under the supervision of his father, and beating all other players at the club -- not sure if the second comma here is necessary?
  • As mentioned, the Independent source gives a little context about the popularity of snooker in China and how Si's rise interacts with it -- is there any analysis of this that could be added to the Career section?
    • I personally think there is scope for a Snooker in China article, which would be super full, as a lot of the pieces on Chinese players could also be attributed to a plethora of other players (and this article could mention their events, the influx of talent, the recent wholesale bans of players). I'm a bit reticent to put a lot of weight on the Chinese popularity for a single player, unless it's someone who is the only one who is affected (someone like Hossein Vafaei, who's had VISA issues due to being from Iran). Happy to add something if you agree though. Lee Vilenski (talkcontribs) 19:58, 26 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Otherwise, I don't think I have any other comments. Vaticidalprophet 18:47, 26 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Well, that's quick. Thanks for bringing to my attention those sources. Lee Vilenski (talkcontribs) 19:59, 26 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]
I think that response is reasonable (I'd like to read that Snooker in China article). I'm happy to pass this -- it's on the shorter side, but appropriately so for the subject, and I'm happy to consider any breadth issues resolved. Vaticidalprophet 20:03, 26 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]
