It is essential to provide reliable sources when editing this article. For examples, see the references section. Unsourced or unreliably sourced additions will be removed immediately. The list is frequently edited in good faith to update the certified sales figures; however, claimed sales figures need to be supported by reliable sources, preferably from news organizations. Artists with claimed sales figures below 75 million may not be added to the list. Whilst we encourage editors to be bold, it is highly recommended to discuss changes on this talk page before editing. Below you can get an understanding as to when certifications for songs are added to the total certified sales of the listed artists.
The year next to markets below indicates how far back the certification systems go in each country. The percentages stand for the global market share based on a 2007 IFPI report.

The Doors
[edit]On November 21, 2024, RIIA certified many singles from the American group The Doors as gold, platinum and multi-platinum, increasing the sum of sales in America, but I noticed that it has not yet been updated. Thank you and good work. https://www.riaa.com/gold-platinum/#search_section 79.47.6.140 (talk) 23:43, 21 November 2024 (UTC) — Preceding unsigned comment added by 79.47.6.140 (talk)
The Doors
[edit]All individual RIAA certificates before 1989 Gold, Platinum etc. have the following sales Gold 1,000,000 Million, Platinum 2,000,000 Million and 2xPlatinum 4,000,000 Million etc. So Light My Fire reaches the gold record in September 1967 with 1,000,000 sales, while today it is certified 2xPlatino, that is 4,000,000, the same for the single Touch Me released in December 1968, reaching the gold record in February 1969 for 1,000,000 sales, while today it has been certified Platinum for 2,000,000 sales. To recap, we must add to the amount already existing in sales in America of 38,600,000 another 2,000,000 for Light My Fire, 2,000,000 for Break on Through, 2,000,000 for Riders on the storm, 1,000,000 for Touch Me, 1,000,000 for People Are Strange, 1,000,000 for Roadhouse Blues, 1,000,000 for Love Her Madly, 1,000,000 for L.A. Woman (song), 500,000 for Love Me Two Times, 500,000 for The End, 500,000 for Peace Frog, for a total of 51,100,000 sales in America. 82.55.102.140 (talk) 02:14, 28 November 2024 (UTC)

The Doors
[edit]The estimates in The Doors RIIA are wrong, because the band has sold 34 million albums in America and 13 million singles + 600,000 video albums. So the total would be 47,600,000 and not 42,850,000. Could you kindly correct, thank you. Finally there would be the fact that all individual certificates before 1989 should be considered with double sales, like, gold record 1,000,000 sales, platinum 2,000,000 sales etc. but let's forget this data, but the rest as I said must be rectified.
