Lightweight 2005

[edit]

his loss to azevendo is listed as his only lightweight fight, with no source, according to the tale of the tape on the broadcast he weighed in at 65kg- or 143lbs, his opponent weighed in slightly less. My portuguese isnt good enough to know if the commentators ever mention lightweight or featherweight, but it seems more likley given the weights it was at the 66kg (FW) limit not 70kg (154lb lightweight)~Wilflet (talk) 10:53, 14 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Fighting style

[edit]

The first paragraph of this section is unsourced and reads like a fan's praise. Vague, peacocky words like "well-versed", "renowned", "legend", "agile", "slick", and "a testament to the power" defy the factual, objective tone expected of an encyclopedia. Is it possible to rewrite the description of his fighting style without all the puffery and judgement-passing, and with attribution to third-party, neutral, reliable sources? Fix his Bio

[edit]

His losses say 2 by submission. Should be 1 submission and 1 knockout — Preceding unsigned comment added by GOLDENxxC1uTch (talkcontribs) 06:40, 13 December 2015 (UTC)[reply]

José Aldo da Silva Oliveira Junior[6] (Portuguese pronunciation: [ʒoˈzɛ ˈawdu]; born September 9, 1986) is a Brazilian mixed martial artist who currently fights in the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC). He was the fourth and final WEC Featherweight Champion and thus, became the first UFC Featherweight Champion during the UFC/WEC merger.[7] He was named Sherdog's 2009 Fighter of the Year.[8] As of August 10, 2015 he is #1 in official UFC pound-for-pound rankings[9] and ranked the #1 Featherweight in the world by Sherdog.[10] In the ten years from November 26, 2005 until November 26, 2015, Aldo never lost an MMA fight, thus marking an entire decade of invincibility, with 5 years ruling as a world champion (18 fights, 10 title fights, 9 title defenses).[11] This was all true of course until he was owned by Connor McGregor in 13 seconds. Edit his win/loss record and any info needed to show that he is no longer the world title holder. 68.7.165.147 (talk) 04:54, 14 December 2015 (UTC)[reply]

[edit]

In the first paragraph it says "In the ten years from November 26, 2005 until November 26, 2015, Aldo never lost an MMA fight". November 26th is an arbitrary date: he lost his first fight on December 12th.

Please change that sentence to say that he didn't lost a fight until December 12th.

The author of Reference #50 is cited as "Dave Doylw". Simple mistake, but his name is "Dave Doyle".

Also, reference #51 appears to be a dead link. Can we use the "Jose Aldo - Official UFC Fighter Profile" as a source (already listed as reference #2) again and leave out the "sixth highest" part? Thanks.
