Proposal: Create a Separate Page for Northwest Academy

[edit]

Hello. I am making the following proposal to have a separate and new Wikipedia page created for Northwest Academy, HCHS’s predecessor. If this passes, the Houston Christian page will, of course, still have mentions of Northwest Academy, and vice-versa. Wjenkins96 (talk) 16:19, 4 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]

@Wjenkins96 Consider opening a WP:SPLIT discussion. There are very few users watching this page, and opening one may bring the discussion some attention The Night Watch (talk) 19:24, 4 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]

4.37.252.50, It's a good way to hide the school's racist past. Who wants everyone to know that? It should be well-hidden in another article. — Jacona (talk) 17:20, 9 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]
I do believe I detect a bit of snark. But that's appropriate if there's been whitewashing going on here. 4.37.252.50 (talk) 16:10, 10 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]
It has to do with the fact that Northwest Academy and Houston Christian are not the same school. HCHS is technically a continuation of NWA—I guess you could call it a reset—but not the same school. If I do a page for NWA, however, the Houston Christian article would be amended and not include the category “Segregation academies in Texas”, which would transfer over to NWA.
I would keep the first paragraph under the History section, which mentions that Houston Christian was on the former grounds of NWA, which was a segregation school. There is also the fact that many high school students who were at NWA when it closed stayed at HCHS. I am not trying to hide history, rather expand it. I do not think it is accurate (or fair) to say that HCHS, which was founded in 1998, was a segregation school. Wjenkins96 (talk) 22:35, 11 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Same students, same staff, same school. 4.37.252.50 (talk) 15:19, 15 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]
