Expanding on the causes for the creation of YMCA

[edit]

Hi, I'm helping to expand the article on the History of youth work and would like to understand better the causes for the "Appalled by the terrible conditions in London for young working men, he gathered a group of his fellow drapers together to create a place that would not tempt young men into sin.". Was there some was that lead to many orphans e.g., parents not able to care for their children? Thy --SvenAERTS (talk) 13:10, 8 April 2017 (UTC)[reply]

There was a certain amount of poverty in Victorian London --- as there was in most World cities, and in rural life, which latter had less temptations into sinning in any interesting way. Claverhouse (talk) 23:30, 11 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]
