Why did a page such as this not exist?

[edit]

I am surprised that this page did not exist. WP is being built by editors as a service for the readers. We must not forget this. -- Alan Liefting (talk) - 21:07, 28 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Distinguishing this from "Read-only Wikipedian"

[edit]

Some years ago, I created a category "Read-only Wikipedian" but it soon got deleted, on the grounds that any one who put his/her username there would be contradicting what the category said. I am glad now it did get deleted - I see that to be a Wikipedian, one has to edit the encyclopaedia, but if one only reads the articles, one comes under the category of Wikipedia: Reader. For a time, I thought I would be a "read-only Wikipedian", but since this rather silly belief, I have made over 4, 000 edits to the English Wikipedia. To let you know how silly this belief is, my latest edit count just about reaches 5, 000 edits! ACEOREVIVED (talk) 19:53, 29 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]

I just wish to say how pleased I am that this article exists - I expect that there are a quite a lot of us who ourselves as readers rather than editors of Wikipedia. ACEOREVIVED (talk) 11:36, 30 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]
