These are 4 and 8 years ahead of the games and nothing at the target even mentions them. Neither are helpful redirects or search terms and should be left as red links until an article can be created. Hey man im josh (talk) 15:31, 14 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Keep. While that may be true, the Olympics are held every four years. The 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris already ended, so it makes sense to keep those as redirects. Abhiramakella (talk) 20:25, 15 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]
At the present time, it doesn't. Readers could be searching these terms thinking we know something about what will happen in 4 or 8 years when we don't. These can (and will) be recreated within a year or so of these events occurring when we have actual information to provide readers. Steel1943 (talk) 21:08, 15 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]
For reference, 2024 Summer Olympics medal table was created on 7 May 2024, 2020 Summer Olympics medal table was created as a redirect in 2018 (possibly too early, but I've not looked to see if there was content at the target at the time) but gained content on 8 July 2021 (about 2 weeks before the games started), 2016 Summer Olympics medal table was created in 2010 (definitely too early, it was nominated for speedy deletion, which was correctly declined, but should have been brought here) it gained content when the first medal was won, 2012 Summer Olympics medal table was created in February 2012 and gained content the day before the games started. 2008 Summer Olympics medal table was created in December 2007, prodded (and then forgotten about?), redirected in May 2008 and became a content page 2 weeks before the opening ceremony. 2004 Summer Olympics medal table was split off from the main 2004 Olympics article on the second day of the games, these were the first Summer Olympics after Wikipedia was founded. "Zelda 3" through "Zelda 20"

The result of the discussion was keep Zelda 3/III, 4/IV and 5/V, delete the rest. plicit 14:44, 21 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]

With the exceptions of Zelda 1 and Zelda 2, none of the The Legend of Zelda games have used numbers in their titles. I mean, I get it, the numbers are supposed to represent the order in which they were released, but such an association on Wikipedia is the equivalent of a WP:NOTFANDOM issue. There are several complications with this nomenclature:

At the minimum, the numbering gets ambiguous after Zelda 7: Zelda 7 and Zelda 8 both target The Legend of Zelda: Oracle of Seasons and Oracle of Ages, but a reader could assume that both games represent "Zelda 7" and the "8th" title is whatever Zelda 9 currently points to.

With all this being said, my official vote is delete all with the alternative of weak delete all titles from Zelda 8 to Zelda 20. Steel1943 (talk) 14:41, 14 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]

@Dissident93, Sergecross73, and Oganguly: Pinging current participants in the event they wish to alter their votes now that all of the discussions have been merged. Steel1943 (talk) 15:13, 14 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Retargeting to List_of_The_Legend_of_Zelda_media#Video_games could be an option in case people are looking these up, otherwise delete. 1234qwer1234qwer4 15:31, 14 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]
will partially object to the justification for zelda 9, as despite the fire emblem franchise not using numbers either (hell, heroes could be a mainline installment for all we know) the "11nd" and "12rd" installments are remakes. will still vote to delete them all as that would require knowing what a mainline zelda game even is (and why the cd-i games don't count while spirit tracks does), and no one seems to use those wacky numbers... ever, really cogsan (nag me) (stalk me) 15:57, 14 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]
The CD-i games don't count because Nintendo had no involvement in them other than licencing out the property to Phillips as a consolation for mothballing the SNES CD add-on they were working on. The other partner they went with took their ball elsewhere when Nintendo saw the Mega CD bomb.Jéské Couriano v^_^v threads critiques 18:45, 14 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]
that all sounds like an excuse to not accept harkinian as the new main character of the franchise cogsan (nag me) (stalk me) 18:52, 14 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Comment: I just added all respective Roman numeral variations to this nomination ... as I just found them. As a courtesy, @Dissident93, Sergecross73, Oganguly, 1234qwer1234qwer4, and Cogsan: Pinging all current participants. (For the record, Zelda XX does not exist.) Steel1943 (talk) 16:31, 14 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Just casting my support to purge those as well. In all my many---potentially regrettable---years being an online Zelda fan, I have never heard anyone calling the games by a numeral or number besides the first two NES games. Ornov Ganguly TALK 17:29, 14 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]
delete them too, if only because roman numerals make my brain go ouch cogsan (nag me) (stalk me) 17:38, 14 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]
  • Delete all - And to make a note, the Hyrule Warriors games are non-canon musou spinoffs and Nintendo refuses to acknowledge the CD-i games in any capacity, which is why they aren't given redirects. —Jéské Couriano v^_^v threads critiques 16:56, 14 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]
  • Retarget all to List of The Legend of Zelda media#Video games. I spot checked a few of these and they all seem to get used unoficially but not all consistently referring to the same target, so targetting the list is the best way to help readers find the content they are looking for. Thryduulf (talk) 18:31, 14 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Readers who search these terms will be searching these terms with no idea what they are looking for, and no idea if they got what they wanted to find or where on the list article what they are trying to find is ... as per my nomination statement. And who is to say this is the "Zelda" they are looking for? Steel1943 (talk) 18:45, 14 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]
  • Keep Zelda 3/III to Zelda 5/V; Delete the rest - As noted at Legends of Localization, Zelda III to Zelda V did appear in gaming magazines of the time with Zelda III appearing on one variant of the box art for the SNES. Zelda V has the least references to OoT as Zelda 64 was more popular and Zelda VI doesn't seem to exist. --Super Goku V (talk) 22:56, 14 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]
  • Keep/Delete per Super Goku V's research. It seems like the latter is used in "what ifs" (eg: what if Zelda games were numbered in timeline order), which would be a whole different set of numerals than the chronological releases. -- Tavix (talk) 23:17, 14 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]
  • Delete all I can see this being really controversial and starting nerdy edit wars. Really just totally unnecessary. ᴢxᴄᴠʙɴᴍ () 11:58, 15 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]
  • Keep Zelda's 3/III to 5/V, delete the rest. Just because Zelda 16 or Zelda 20 might be implausible, doesn't mean we should throw everything out in between, and Super Goku V points out that some of the earlier numbers in this lineage have been used as real alternative names back when the first couple games in the numbering-scheme were more timely. Utopes (talk / cont) 13:03, 15 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]
  • Keep "Zelda III" but only in Roman Numeral form, but Delete the rest, including "Zelda 3" in Arabic Numeral form. This is because A Link to the Past was initially planned for the NES as "Zelda III" but was moved onto the Super Nintendo, as A Link to the Past, relatively early in its development. The game itself references this, in the English translation, where "The Lake of Ill Omen" is a visual pun between the word "Ill" and the Roman Numeral III. Other than that, we can delete the rest of them. The Mysterious El Willstro (talk) 23:24, 20 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]
  • Keep 3/4/5/III/IV/V, delete the rest, based on Super Goku V's findings. First few are plausible, rest look like ambiguous WP:OR and are unlikely to be of real use. BugGhost🦗👻 12:48, 21 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]

This is the name of a Youtube introductory video, before a 5-10 minute documentary. In any case, "first try"s are an incredibly broad concept and should not be limited to this specific circumstance, as it could also be in reference to "try"ing someone the first time, via legal systems, or just trying something new. We have no substantive content about Oakley's "introductory video" for incoming searchers, so it'd be best to rid of this totally WP:SURPRISEing redirect. Utopes (talk / cont) 12:24, 14 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]

This redirect is barely a week old, similarly to an infant (which is also a valid target). "Young" is an incredibly vague term, and should not be locked into a redirect. A young adult is also a young human, as is a teenager. People looking for the article on "child" would just use that incredibly-natural term. Wikipedia redirects should not be guesswork; let search engines do their job with this. Utopes (talk / cont) 12:15, 14 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]

No mention of this lyric at the target article; people who specify this lyric instead of typing in "shut up and dance" (which is the vastly known name of this song), are likely looking for specific information related to the lyric, which does not appear anywhere at the target page. Unneeded soft redirect from an unlikely search term. What other mythology would Dionysus appear in? This redirect was created shortly before its target (which used to be Category:Dionysus in mythology). Mclay1 (talk) 11:21, 6 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]

keep. osiris isn't really a recurring character in shinto lore, but people will still specify that he's from egyptian mythology. same goes for dionysus in greek mythology, give or take the roman dub changing everyone's names (except his, apparently), so i think it's a pretty plausible case of "just in case" or alternative spelling cogsan (nag me) (stalk me) 15:54, 6 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]
You would specify Osiris is from Egyptian mythology when explaining what Osiris is, but you wouldn't need a subcat of Category:Osiris called Category:Osiris in Egyptian mythology because that's what the main category is already for. This redirect is very unlikely to aid navigation. (See Wikipedia:Category redirects that should be kept.) Mclay1 (talk) 15:34, 7 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Dionysus is technically a Latin/Latinised name of the god (Dionysos), but we don't have a category or separate article for the Roman Bacchus, so this is essentially a redirect from a more restrictive name, which I don't think is needed. 1234qwer1234qwer4 13:29, 15 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]
