- Library of Congress shows that this photo comes from the NAACP, not the US Air Force. Kelly hi! 02:12, 20 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]
- LOC description page at [1] states: "No known restrictions on publication." -- Cuppysfriend (talk) 21:25, 21 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]
- The only surviving pictures of the arrest were taken surreptitiously by Sgt. Harold Beaulieu who was in charge of the USAAF photo lab at Freeman. His images eventually became part of the NAACP collection donated to the LOC. The problem is: 1) The picture wasn't exactly taken as "part of his official duties;" and 2) The NAACP collection (unlike the Bain Collection) probably includes some images not owned by the NAACP. Does anyone think that a "fair use" tag would be more appropriate? -- Cuppysfriend (talk) 15:40, 22 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]
- EUREKA! I found the same image at Encyclopedia of Alabama, with the credit "Courtesy of the U.S. Air Force." -- Cuppysfriend (talk) 00:12, 24 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]
- Looks like good sourcing - I copied the image over to Commons. Thanks! Kelly hi! 00:44, 24 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]

- Library of Congress states this is an AP photo. No evidence that it was published without a copyright notice as claimed. Kelly hi! 04:29, 20 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]
- But there are links to copyright renewal records without hits, so it might be fine. --Stefan2 (talk) 21:43, 22 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]
- Hmm, perhaps, but the AP is generally pretty conscientious about its copyrights, and we usually avoid using any of their stuff per WP:NFCC#2. Kelly hi! 22:08, 22 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]
- See also the similar request Commons:Commons:Deletion requests/File:Raising the Flag on Iwo Jima.png (about a different AP image). --Stefan2 (talk) 23:17, 22 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]

- learn something new every day! (no "freedom of panorama"). I'll see about a pic with a person viewing the display, or something. For now, the photo is not publicly displayed, and since it is not a panoramic shot per se, possibly arguable that it should be speedily deleted. Judge Dred Scott (talk) 13:50, 20 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]
- Actually, maybe you misunderstood the term "freedom of panorama" a bit (I should have given a link right away; it's explained here). It has nothing to do with being a "panoramic shot", and having a picture with people standing around the artwork wouldn't help much either, I'm afraid. - The user has uploaded many copyrighted images according to his talk page. These images are the only ones left and I'm quite suspicious. Only one of them has any EXIF data at all and two of them are in a web resolution. Image quality seems to differ quite a bit. Stefan2 (talk) 21:18, 20 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]

- File:PNervi2.jpg (delete | talk | history | logs).
- This might be unfree in both the United States and Italy. There are two copyrights involved: the photo task and the derivative work (freedom of panorama). The picture was taken in 1960, and if English Wikipedia's interpretation of the Italian photo law is correct, it would mean that the copyright expired in 1980. However, there is still the derivative work part: as the building remains copyrighted until 2050, I assume that the architect would still be able to claim copyright to the parts of the photo displaying the building. And since those parts presumably were copyrighted in Italy on the URAA date, I would guess that copyright might have been restored. But I'm not really sure.
