@Pppery:, I created this category. Then you posted a notice on my talk page directing me here. I see no rationale provided. There is a cryptic code above, "WP:UCFD", with a link that leads to a list of other links, one of which I followed, but that took me to a page with further drop-down sections for every day for a whole month, that is, a ton of reading. Please do me and other interested parties a favour by providing a clear rationale here, which can be discussed, or provide at the very least a direct, specific link to something so we don't have to play two time-wasting games: Hide and seek, and Let's all guess what Pppery is talking about. I don't have time to search and play guessing games. Please state your rationale explicitly so there can be a discussion. I am keen to know what it is. Thank you. The regulars here would quite clearly know what I mean, so it's not Let's all guess. Anyway, the reason is that "Wikipedians by search engine" categories have been repeatedly deleted in the past, and the link in the nomination statement points to a list of times that has happened. * Pppery * _{it has begun...} 01:16, 9 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Once again, I have followed the link above which took me to a list of links. As before, I clicked the first one which led me to a list of 28 drop-down sections (2 April to 29 April). I browsed the first three carefully and found nothing germane. All I can do is repeat my previous request: provide a direct link to a past discussion, or better yet, state a rationale here. So little effort from you, so convenient for others! (Hint: Although a Wikipedia editor for nearly 20 years, I am not "a regular here" – in Category discussions.) Thank you. I have provided a rationale. The rationale is that the community has deleted categories that are not meaningfully differentiable from this one in the past. Why did the community delete things like this in the past? Because, to quote the nomination statement from Wikipedia:Categories for discussion/Log/2018 January 30#Category:Wikipedians who use Ecosia (the most recent prior discussion):

Violates WP:USERCAT as a category that does not foster encyclopedic collaboration. Extensive precedent to delete other "search engine" categories, see here. It does not help benefit the encyclopedia to know which search engine a particular Wikipedian prefers to use.

Note the link to the exact same list I linked above.

The links on that list point to specific relevant sections of a large page, and while it appears on the mobile website that it takes a non-trivial amount of time to jump to that section, that does not render them entirely unfindable. * Pppery * _{it has begun...} 02:51, 9 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]

@RevelationDirect: I read there that Such categories should only be created ... when similar intersections can be made for related categories – I could be reading this wrong, but doesn't that mean its acceptable here since it is the standard way of organizing these categories for nearly two decades and would cause disorder among a long-time very-well maintained category to do the suggested merger? Relisting comment: @Namiba, the deprecation of SMALLCAT does not mean that small categories are peritted, merely that criteria such as "potential for growth" are ambiguous and unhelpful. • I would think that it'd be much, much more useful for navigation for readers that this be its own category; when everything else is orderly like this, someone would think to look for the Maritime entry – but who would think to look in the container category of college football coaches, of which there are tens of thousands of notables? "Draftspersons", "draftspeople", "draughtspersons" and "draughtspeople" (apparently in roughly that order of popularity) could be possible alternative names for the category.
