English: A map showing the Xianbei Condeferation at its peak under Tanshihuai. According to the Records of the Three Kingdoms, the confederation connected with the Wusun in the west and the Buyeo in the east. They also bordered with the Dingling people, who lived around the areas near Lake Baikal. On the Han dynasty's northern borders were the Southern Xiongnu and Wuhuan peoples, who at this point were subjects of the Han. The Xianbei capital, Mount Danhan, was located roughly in modern-day Shangdu County, Inner Mongolia.
