Yusuke Fukuchi is a Japanese actor. He is best known to audiences for his appearance in the meWATCH and Netflix series Last Madame: Sisters of the Night.

Fukuchi earned international recognition for playing Matsui in the film In the Morning of La Petite Mort / 動物感傷の清晨 (2021)[2] which premiered at the Tallinn Black Nights Film Festival in Estonia on November 23, 2022 and was selected for Critics' Picks Competition. His breakthrough came with a leading role in the Singaporean period drama series Last Madame: Sisters of the Night (2023), winning the Performance by an Actor at the New York Festivals TV & Movie Awards 2024[3]and being nominated for the Best Leading Role Performance at 29th Asian Television Awards 2024 in Jakarta.[4]

Few actors in Asia have had a career quite as unique as the award-winner of Japanese actor Yusuke Fukuchi's.

He began his career in Tokyo but successfully established his own borderless career in major Asian countries.

He is trilingual in English, Japanese and Chinese, and is named as the only Japanese actor who can star in leading roles anywhere in Asian countries in their local languages.

In 2024, his international breakthrough came with a leading role in the prominent Singaporean English TV series 'Last Madame: Sisters of the Night' and he earned various awards winnings and nominations.[5]

Publication

Fukuchi's memoir, 逆境快樂 / SOUL ACT1ON,[6] which was written by himself was published by Sharp Point Publishing on July 4, 2023 and was ranked 7th in the weekly New Realeases Books category in Taiwan[7] .

He spent 4 years to finish writing his first book, and all of the illustrations and film photographs in the book were created by Fukuchi himself.

He revealed that he wrote the book in Japanese first and even the translation to Chinese was done by Fukuchi himself, and hired a native Chinese translator to correct grammatical errors later during the interview at the author event.

The core theme of his book is his growth journey as an actor and the pivotal turning point that transformed his attitude towards life[8] .

Fukuchi describes his analog life as "probably my most cherished lifestyle as an actor."
