Convert
She got converted to Quaker Liberal, according to Newsweek. Eliecer Guillen. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 201.249.79.51 (talk) 20:35, 20 May 2009 (UTC)
- I do think that is something should be added for clarification.Mk5384 (talk) 10:05, 8 July 2010 (UTC)
- If "Quaker" is meant to refer to The Religious Society of Friends, that is more of a religious group, than a religion. It apparently includes a number of faiths, and a fraction of these appear to not even be Christian. It's not only not explicitly clear to what faith she converted. It's also unclear (to me) from what faith she converted. The article doesn't state whether or not she was being raised as a Sunni Muslim. If she was being raised Muslim, it seems unlikely (although it's certainly possible) that Sister Betty would have enrolled her in a program, that's faith differed from the one in which she was raising her daughter. If she was not being raised Muslim, I don't know that it should be called a "conversion" if she did not come to this faith from a different one. Hopefully someone with knoweledge of the subject can clarify specifically what faith she joined at this camp, and also provide information about her religious upbringing prior to this experience. Finally, it would be helpful to clarify whether Ms. Shabazz has remained with this faith.Mk5384 (talk) 10:18, 8 July 2010 (UTC)
- Shabazz was raised as a Sunni Muslim. According to Rickford, she "converted to the [Quaker] faith at age eleven" after attending Quaker-run summer camps.[1] This book explicitly says Shabazz "left Islam and became a Quaker" (page 137). — Malik Shabazz Talk/Stalk 19:05, 8 July 2010 (UTC)
- Should we, then, include in the article that she was raised in Islam?Mk5384 (talk) 22:32, 8 July 2010 (UTC)

According to Malcolm Shabazz all of his famaily is Sunni if his mother was a quaker he would have mentioned it, so it is likely that shw converted back to Islam. http://www.sfbg.com/2011/01/04/joining-journey — Preceding unsigned comment added by IslamicrevialistmMujahid (talk • contribs) 06:34, 12 September 2014 (UTC)
- Unless a source says she converted back to Islam, we can't assume she did. To do so would violate Wikipedia's policy against original research. — Malik Shabazz Talk/Stalk 03:09, 28 September 2014 (UTC)
Include Son's Death
I see that this article features her son killing Betty Shabazz, and that the son's murder was included in his article, but nowhere does it state that her son died in this article. I feel this is important as she is his mother and most direct relative.2601:580:C000:770:81D8:827B:739:1700 (talk) 16:16, 10 February 2021 (UTC)
