HD 28454 (HR 1418) is a solitary star located in the southern constellation Caelum. With an apparent magnitude of 6.1,[2] its barely visble to the naked eye under ideal conditions. This star is located relatively close at a distance of about 107 light years, but is drifting away at a rate of 21.84 km/s.[1]
HD 28454 is an ordinary F-type main sequence star with 1.21 times the mass of the Sun[5] and 1.47 times the radius of the Sun.[1] It radiates at 3.18 times the luminosity of the Sun from its photosphere at an effective temperature of 6,365 K,[1] which gives the star a yellow-white hue. Despite the star's young age at 2.09 billion years,[5] it has an iron abundance only 56% that of the Sun,[7] and spins modestly with a projected rotational velocity of 8 km/s.[8]
