Elrhazosaurus is a genus of basal iguanodontian dinosaur, known from isolated bones found in Lower Cretaceous rocks of Niger. It is based on MNHN GDF 332, a left thigh bone from the Elrhaz Formation of Agadez, Niger. This rock unit dates to the late Aptian stage, approximately 115 million years ago. The bone was initially classified as the type specimen of a new species of Valdosaurus (V. nigeriensis). V. nigeriensis was later given its own genus by Peter Galton, one of the original describers, on the grounds of differing morphology and geologic age versus the original species of Valdosaurus, V. canaliculatus.[1] Elrhazosaurus is only known from thigh bones to date.[2]
