[edit]It is followed by a noun in the nominative case or a verb in the past tense. Pronouns can be either in nominative or genitive case:
- لَوْلَا ٱلنِّيلُ لَأَصْبَحَتْ مِصْرُ صَحْرَاءَ
- lawlā n-nīlu laʔaṣbaḥat miṣru ṣaḥrāʔa
