[edit]From Proto-Permic *ɔ-, from Proto-Uralic *e-. Cognates include Finnish ei and Northern Sami ii.
Permic cognates include Udmurt уг (ug) and Komi-Permyak оз (oz).

Usage notes
[edit]- Used together with a connegative to form the present, future and direct past tense of a verb:
- Ог мун школаӧ. Муна керкаӧ.
- Og mun školaö. Muna kerkaö.
- I'm not going to school. I'm going home.
- In the imperative, the second-person past form is used:
- Эн мун школаӧ! Мун керкаӧ!
- En mun školaö! Mun kerkaö!
- Don't go to school! Go home! / You did not go to school! Go home!
- Оз can also be used to form short answers to polar questions, where it is synonymous to абу (abu):
- — Тэ мунан школаӧ? — Ог.
- — Te munan školaö? — Og.
- — Are you going to school? — No, I'm not.
