[edit]Borrowed from Russian кадр (kadr) or directly from French cadre; from Italian quadro (“framed painting, square”), from Latin quadrum. Doublet of ка́дро (kádro).

[edit]Borrowed from Ottoman Turkish قادر (kadir, kadır, “capable; mighty”), from Arabic قَادِر (qādir, “capable, able; mighty”).
Cognates include Turkish kadir, Macedonian кадар (kadar), Albanian kadër and Aromanian cadãr.
