[edit]From Ottoman Turkish یولار (yular), from Proto-Turkic *jular (“halter”).[1] Cognate with Gagauz yular, Yakut сулар (sular), Tuvan чулар (çular), etc. Chechen жулар (žular) and Ingush журал (žural) are Turkic borrowings.
