[edit]From Proto-Germanic *warmaz, whence also Old English wearm, Old Saxon warm, Old Frisian warm, Old High German warm, Gothic *š š°šš¼š (*warms). Ultimately from Proto-Indo-European *gŹ·Ź°er- (āwarm, hotā) or alternatively *wer- (āto burnā).
