[edit]From Proto-Finnic *vakka, borrowed from Proto-Baltic [Term?] (compare Latvian vāks (“lid, cover”), Lithuanian vókas (“cover, eyelid”)).

- A roundish, voluminous container equipped with a cap.
- (in particular) A type of wooden container of varying size, made of bent thin board to make it strong and light, usually equipped with a close fitting cap.

- pitää kynttiläänsä vakan alla ― to hide one's light under a bushel
- (historical) A premetric unit of dry volume used in Sweden (halvspann in Swedish) and Finland. According to a 1665 regulation, equal to 36.64 liters, quite close to an imperial bushel.
