[edit]Ultimately from Latin concursus. Sense 1 derives from Russian ко́нкурс (kónkurs), while sense 2 most likely derives from German Konkurs, itself from Latin concursus creditorum (“assembly of creditors”). Compare Lithuanian konkursas (“competition”).
