[edit]From Old High German kleini, from Proto-Germanic *klainiz. The velarisation of [n] to [ŋ] after certain long vowels and diphthongs is a regular feature shared with several of the Ripuarian dialects. Cognate with German klein, Dutch klein, English clean.
