English
[edit]Noun
[edit]karhi (countable and uncountable, plural karhis)
- Alternative form of kadhi (“Indian chickpea curry”)
Finnish
[edit]Etymology
[edit]Most likely karhea + -i. Derivation from a root *karča (“twig”) has also been proposed; in which case the word would be akin to Moksha кархча (karhča), Western Mari карша (karša), though this seems unlikely due to an absence of cognates elsewhere in Finnic.[1]
Pronunciation
[edit]Noun
[edit]karhi
- wooden harrow
- Synonym of juuriäes (“scarifier”)
- (regional, Savonia, Kainuu, North Ostrobothnia) harrow
