[edit]From Proto-Finnic *ehkä (compare Estonian ehk, Ingrian ehkä, Karelian ehki, Livonian agā, Livvi ehki, Votic ehtši; see for further etymology). Probably from Proto-Finnic *e- + *-hkä.
