Etymology

From Proto-Albanian *duaigā, from Proto-Indo-European *dwoy-, from the root *dwi- (binary, consisting of two). Cognate to Old High German zwig (forking, crotch (of tree); bough, branch).[1] Alternatively from a root *deh₃gʰ- shared with Proto-Germanic *tōgô (branch).[2]
