Noun

[edit]

creeping thyme (usually uncountable, plural creeping thymes)

  1. A species of thyme native to Europe and northern Africa, Thymus praecox, grown as a fragrant groundcover due to its tendency to branch and grow horizontally.
  2. Wild thyme, Thymus serpyllum, which has a similar habit.

Usage notes

[edit]

There is a great deal of confusion in references between Thymus praecox and Thymus serpyllum, with the former often misidentified as the latter.
