[edit]Borrowed from Arabic بَهَارَات (bahārāt), plural of بَهَار (bahār, “spring”). Derived from Persian بهار (bahâr) in the sense of blossoms and foliage, as a great many spices are cultivated from the leaves of various plants and herbs.
