From Proto-Hmong-Mien *mpeiH (dream);[1] compare Proto-Mon-Khmer *mp[ɔ]ʔ (id) (whence Mon [script needed] (kəpɔʔ, id)), Proto-Austronesian *Sipi (id) (whence Malay mimpi (id)).[3]
