[edit]From naj (“face”) + byak, the latter from Proto-Tai *praːkᴰ (“forehead”). Cognate with Thai ผาก (pàak), Lao ຜາກ (phāk), Shan ၽၢၵ်ႇ (phàak) (as in ၼႃႈၽၢၵ်ႇ (nāa phàak)).
