[edit]Jaakko
- a male given name from Biblical Hebrew
- Jaakko II ― James II (of England)
- 1864, Aleksis Kivi, Nummisuutarit, SKS, published 1956, act II:
- Jaakko, I will drink this for you and hope that in a year's time, your house is ready and you will be the master of the Koutinkorpi household.
- 1985, Sisko Latvus, Elina, eronnut nainen, →ISBN, pages 108–109:
He quickly christened the boy Jaakko Henrik in the name of the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit, ( - - - )
- What a manly name, everyone praised. - Not some short name like everyone does this days, but a proper Finnish man's name.
- He quickly christened the boy Jaakko Henrik in the name of the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit, ( - - - )
- 1986, Leena Valvanne, Rakkautta pyytämättä, Tammi, →ISBN, page 137:
Lopulta sopeuduin suvun toivomukseen ja vanhimpamme sai tukun suvun nimiä.- Already at the ward my mother-in-law had said: "This boy will be a Jaakko".
I was not so sure about that. I was not particulaly thrilled with the name Jaakko.
I did know that Niilo's relatives, especially his two old aunts Hanna and Elli Wegelius wished for the boy to be named Jaakko after the family's ancestor Jakob Wegelius, a theologist, philosopher and doctor of medicine born in 1776. Nobody of his descendants had been named Jaakko. Furthermote, my own father's father's name was also Jaakko. In the end I acquiesced to the family's wishes and our oldest children were given all names from the family.
- Already at the ward my mother-in-law had said: "This boy will be a Jaakko".
