(transitive) to stroke with something (like a brush), applying a layer of some substance; to coat, to brush, to smear, to skim (plaster)

(rare) to stroke more generally
Han sträckte ut sin hand genom bilrutan och lät den bestrykas av vetet
He put his hand out through the car window and let it be caressed by the wheat
