Numerical Analysis For (H-Q) Curve Of Centrifugal Pumps Using Natural And Constrained Cubic Spline Interpolations Abstract: This study is founded by numerical analysis to (H-Q) curve for centrifugal device pump with radial and axial flow fitted firstly with natural spline interpolation and secondly using reserved cubic interpolation spline. Two case studies are used, first one analyzed the (H-Q) curve for axial flow with high specific speed, NS, when the H-Q curve having undesirable dip due to incorrect design of the impeller. The second case study is the parallel operation for two devices (pumps) for different (H-Q) curves, the joint the curves of combination which having important point, until the suitable and working point which reached, the first one doesn’t transfer the flow. The second pump can begin to fund to the flow, it is for this reason that in such a case, the second pump should be started first and then the first pump, locate this point provides us with energy and maintenance costs. The results shown that the normal cubic interpolation which will useful to interpolate these types of curves to obtain the undesirable overshooting points than constrained cubic spline,

We also find that the major sources of development finance in Africa are exhibiting either a declining or a constant trend. This, therefore, calls for significant increases in the fiscal space in which non-traditional sources of development finance can be game changers. This study discusses five sources of financing that are currently used by a relatively small number of African countries in spite of their potential to increase their fiscal space. Diaspora bonds, carbon sequestration and trading, renewable energy and Islamic finance, as sources of development finance are not traditional to many African countries. Tourism is traditional to all African countries, but is not optimally leveraged as in other parts of the world. We argue that African countries are not looking at the full range of options that could be available to them to increase the development finance space. We therefore argue that African policy makers should embark on revenue diversification to include non-traditional sources that could be game changers in their development finance mix,

Options to support urban infrastructure delivery in Pakistan – a survey for the province of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Abstract: Pakistan has 191.7 million inhabitants with a population that is increasing by 1.92 percent per annum. More than 60% of Pakistan’s population currently lives in rural areas. However, the rural population is moving towards cities due to diminishing work opportunities in the agricultural sector. For this reason, a further investment in local infrastructure is essential. Moreover, in the last ten years, the economy of Pakistan has faced various domestic and external shocks such as the earthquake of 2005, the flood of 2010, the worldwide financial crisis of 2008 and the unsolved energy crisis. The deterioration in the power sector, in particular, is one of the main constraints on growth since power cuts have shaved 2% off the annual GDP growth and for this reason the Pakistan economy has annually grown by only 3.3 % in the last five years, while inflation has been overcome and is currently not a danger for the economic performance of Pakistan. One of the poorest part of Pakistan is the province of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and this paper provides for the first time a detailed overview of the local public finance system in this province,

Conditional dependence between oil prices and CEE stock markets: a copula-GARCH approach Abstract: This study investigates both the constant and time-varying conditional dependency between crude oil and stock markets for the CEE countries (Hungary, Poland, Czech Republic, Romania, and Croatia) by using the conditional copula-GARCH model with both constant and time-varying dependence parameters in the field of energy economics. Through different copula functions, the proposed models allow specifying the joint distribution of the crude oil and CEE stock returns with full flexibility. First, from the copula models, we find that all series show fat-tail, leverage effects, and volatilities tend to cluster. Second, in both constant and timevarying copula models, we find that conditional dependence is similar for most countries, which means that a significant conditional dependence exists in all oilstock price pairs. Our findings have important implications for both policymakers and investors by contributing to a better understanding of oil-stock relationships. A significant interdependence between crue oil price and stock markets suggests that enterprises and governments in CEE regions should pay attention to the stock market performance when the oil price fluctuates,

25 years of Regulation of Water Services; looking backwards & forwards11This paper is an extension of the notes I delivered at the annual conference of the Regulatory policy Institute held at Merton College Oxford on 12/13 September 2016 I amended the notes in the light of the discussion at Oxford and further helpful comments on an earlier draft. An important contribution could be made by adoption, or adaptation, of a new procedure devised for the Australian electricity market, made in a lecture by John Pearce, Chair, Australian Energy Market Commission, and an insight by Stephen Smith in his presentation on the Evolution of Network Price Determination Processes. Further points emerged at a subsequent presentation by Thames Water at a European Policy Forum Roundtable on the financing of the Thames Tideway Tunnel. I am particularly grateful to Alan Sutherland, John Smith, Colin Skellett, John Banyard, Remy Prud'homme, Rupert Darwall, Martin Cave, Stephen Littlechild, Sonia Brown and Jonson Cox and to three anonymous referees for help in the drafting of this paper and to Julia Havard in editing the text.,22See my article on the Regulation of Water Services in the UK in Utilities Policy 24 (2013) for my account of my term of office from 1989 to 2000,

EU Integrated Maritime Policy and multilevel governance Abstract: Marine and coastal environment are under pressure from several pollution sources. Most of the environmental law was developed on a sectoral basis and does not reflect the interdependence of the various issues and their solutions. Since the adoption of Blue Book, EU legislation to protect the marine environment has been progressively implemented in many relevant areas: Fisheries, Shipping, Tourism, energy, etc. The Integrated Maritime Policy covers several cross-cutting policies, more specifically blue growth, marine data and knowledge, maritime spatial planning, integrated maritime surveillance, and sea basin strategies. Oceans and sea are influenced by many activities, interests and policies and are interlinked. A holistic, integrated approach is the best way to handle maritime affairs, with States cooperation not only on an EU States basis but also with third States and International Organizations. International Organizations provide an essential forum for international cooperation in relation to environmental issues. In this context they have two important roles to play: environmental policy-making and the development of international environmental law,

New Markets for Pollution and Energy Efficiency: Credit Trading under Automobile Greenhouse Gas and Fuel Economy StandardsAbstract: Recent changes to the Corporate Average Fuel Economy (CAFE) standards have created new opportunities for lowering the cost of meeting strict new standards through provisions for credit banking and trading. In this paper, we explore these new markets for reductions in both fuel consumption (fuel economy) and greenhouse gases (GHGs). We examine the two separate credits markets for fuel economy as regulated by NHTSA and for GHG gases under EPA and find that there are some important differences between them. For example, the market for NHTSA fuel economy credits has an effective credit price ceiling while the market for EPA GHG credits does not. We then evaluate the functionality of these markets using publicly available data on credit holdings and trades through 2013. Finally, we assess the potential for the following to interfere with well-functioning markets: overlapping regulations, lack of additionality, thin markets, and use of monopoly power. We find that features of robust trading markets are missing in these early years, and suggest reasons why. We also explore the implications of the fact that the two regulations are almost fully overlapping,

Proactivity routines: the role of social processes in how employees self-initiate change,
Heather C. Vough, Uta K. Bindl and Sharon K. Parker, from London School of Economics and Political Science, LSE Library (2017)
Keywords: Proactive work behaviors are self-initiated; future-focused actions aimed at bringing about changes to work processes in organizations. Such behaviors occur within the social context of work. The extant literature that has focused on the role of social context for proactivity has focused on social context as an overall input or output of proactivity. However; in this paper we argue that the process of engaging in proactive work behavior (proactive goal striving) may also be a function of the social context it occurs in. Based on qualitative data from 39 call center employees in an energy-supply company; we find that in a context characterized by standardized work procedures; proactive goal striving can occur through a proactivity routine- a socially constructed and accepted pattern of action by which employees initiate and achieve changes to work processes; with the support of managers and colleagues. Our findings point to the need to view proactive work behaviors at a higher level of analysis than the individual in order to identify shared routines for engaging in proactivity; as well as how multiple actors coordinate their efforts in the process of achieving individually-generated proactive goals.

Is export quality a viable option for sustainable development paths of Asian countries?,
Muge Manga, Orhan Cengiz and Mehmet Destek, from University Library of Munich, Germany (2022)
Keywords: This paper investigates the role of export quality in climate action goal of the sustainable development goals in emerging Asian countries. For this purpose, the empirical model that observes the impact of real GDP, energy use and export quality index on carbon emissions is constructed and is analyzed by ARDL bound test approach for the period from 1970 to 2014. We also include the square of real GDP as independent variable to observe the existency of Environmental Kuznets Curve (EKC) hypothesis which implies the parabolic relationship between economic growth and environmental degradation. The findings show that increase in export quality leads to a fall in CO2 emissions for China and India. In contrast, the effect of increasing export quality increases CO2 emissions in Thailand and the Philippines. Lastly, our asymmetric causality results show that the positive shocks of export quality causes positive shocks of CO2 emissions in Thailand and Indonesia. Furthermore, we found that positive export quality shocks causes negative carbon emission shocks in India while negative export quality shocks causes positive carbon emissions shocks in China. We also confirm the inverted U-shaped EKC hypothesis in China and Thailand.

Eco-innovation and Circular Business Models as drivers for a circular economyAbstract: Eco-innovation is defined as any directed/oriented innovation aiming at reducing environmental impacts. Eco-innovation is not only a technology change; it also embraces organisational, social and system innovations. This systemic and complex thinking is necessary to understand the role of eco-innovation as an enabler of Circular Economy (CE). Circular Economy appears as a promising approach towards a sustainable transition from the linear socioeconomic paradigm. The objective of the Circular Economy is to maintain and to share value along the time. Eco-innovation for Circular Economy can be of technological and non-technological character. Indeed, it is acknowledged that CE needs to address important challenges regarding business models and socio-institutional frameworks, while technological change may not be necessarily radical. In order to pave the way to Circular Economy through ecoinnovation, business models are considered a key driver. The business model is seen as a holistic approach towards the way of doing business. From the eco-innovation perspective, a business model needs to add ecological and social value to the value proposal and changing the producer and the consumer practices. In particular, eco-innovations with the potential to enable the transition to a resource-efficient circular economy model include efforts to change dominant business models (from new product and service design to reconfigured value chains, new/short supply chains), transform the way citizens interact with products and services (ownership, leasing, sharing, repairing, reducing, remanufacturing, etc.) and develop improved systems for delivering value (green mobility, smart energy systems, short supply chains, etc.),

Sustainable Cooperation in Global Climate Policy: Specific Formulas and Emission Targets to Build on Copenhagen and Cancun Abstract: We offer a framework to assign quantitative allocations of emissions of greenhouse gases (GHGs), across countries, one budget period at a time. Under the two-part plan: (i) China, India, and other developing countries accept targets at Business as Usual (BAU) in the coming budget period, the same period in which the US first agrees to cuts below BAU; and (ii) all countries are asked in the future to make further cuts in accordance with a common numerical formula to all. The formula is expressed as the sum of a Progressive Reductions Factor, a Latecomer Catch-up Factor, and a Gradual Equalization Factor. This paper builds on our previous work in many ways. First we update targets to reflect pledges made by governments after the Copenhagen Accord of December 2010 and confirmed at the Cancun meeting of December 2011. Second, the WITCH model, which we use to project economic and environmental effects of any given set of emission targets, has been refined and updated to reflect economic and technological developments. We include the possibility of emissions reduction from bio energy (BE), carbon capture and storage (CCS), and avoided deforestation and forest degradation (REDD+) which is an important component of pledges in several developing countries. Third, we use a Nash criterion for evaluating whether a country’s costs are too high to sustain cooperation,

The Researches Of Receiving A Pelleted Feed For Poultrybased On Binary Compositions. Abstract: Poultry farming in the Russian Federation is a dynamically and successfully evolving branch of agricultural production at the present stage of national economic development. The question of effective and efficient feeding in aviculture has always been a very acute problem. In the struc-ture of the final cost of products formation feeding stuffs reach 75% according to various es-timations. The most expensive in the production of feed mixtures are suchprotein components of the food ration as fish meal and bone tankage, soy and sunflower meal, protein additives and concentrates. However, as the study shows, the possibilities of such high-protein cultures, as soybean are not fully in use for feed production. Along with soybean and its processed prod-ucts, it is also possible to use food waste products from the meat and fish industry, in respect that the waste processing of poultry is more than 30% of the bird’s carcase weight. These com-ponents of the feedstuff are also quite valuable, because they are rich in high-grade protein and able to meet the daily demand of poultry in amino acids. Until now, it has not been paid enough attention to applied researches, related to obtaining binary soy-meat and bone meal, soy-fishbone meal, soy-herb and soy-luminaria feed mixtures. In such combinations, the mois-ture contained in the raw material is average and, therefore, it is possible, at least twice, to re-duce the energy costs for its removal during drying. At the same time, as a result of the analyti-cal review, it was revealed a contradiction between the desire and endeavor of producers to improve the efficiency of poultry production by finding rational methods of preparation, appli-cation of modern technologies and improved technical means in the preparation of feed pellets based on binary compositions on the one hand and a known level of scientific knowledge about the laws of obtaining meat-bone, fish-bone or vegetable-grass pastes, the processes of averaging of moisture in the binary compositions and mechanisms of formation of the final product, namely, seals, molding pellets with a low crumbling and their subsequent drying on the other hand. In this connection, studies aimed at improving lines for production of feed products in the form of protein-mineral and protein-vitamin compositions using soy component are relevant and have important economic significance. The presence of this problem is also due to the lack, at modern stage of development, of special equipment and technologies, as well as scientifical-ly-based data for the design and construction. The paper proposes the design of a promising device ¬- a press granulator designed for the preparation of granulated feed for poultry on the basis of soy-meat and bone compositions and the results of experimental studies,
