Abstract:
The prime intention of the book is to throw light on the trade and investment scenario in SAARC countries. The book provides an overview of the current trend of trade and FDI inflows in the region for from various parts of the world. The book attempted to investigate the relationship between trade and FDI in the SAARC region. The role of investment policy and institutional variables in attracting FDI in the region has also been analyzed. The book also looked into the various obstacles faced by the corporate sector in doing business in these countries after entering them through the foreign investment route. The variables that facilitate the doing business and the variables that pose threat to the business are discussed in detail in the book. It is in this context the book developed a framework for analyzing the role of FDI in the SAARC region both at the regional level as a whole and individual country level. The main findings of the book for each of the chapters are summarized in this chapter.
