Description
English: The relationship between the various ancient manuscripts of the Old Testament, according to the Encyclopaedia Biblica.[page needed] Dotted pale blue lines indicate texts which were used to correct the main source.

The isolated letters are standard siglums designating particularly significant manuscripts:

  • א [Aleph] = Codex Sinaiticus
  • A = Codex Alexandrinus
  • B = Codex Vaticanus
  • Q = Codex Marchalianus

In addition, the standard abbreviations:

  • MT = Masoretic Text
  • LXX = Septuagint - in this diagram, this refers to the original version of the Septuagint (as opposed to Lucian, Heysicius, Hexaplar, A, B, X [aleph], etc., the Old Testaments/Hebrew Bibles of which are commonly also called Septuagint)
