Only users with Autopatrol rights may now overwrite files uploaded by other users. You may request autopatrol rights here. Make sure that your planned overwriting complies with the file overwriting guidelines.

The template that allows overwriting a file ({{Allow Overwriting}}) may be placed by any user with patrol rights.

Made background of maps transparent (like File:Bundesautobahn_10_map.png for example) for consistency with other maps and to make them look a little better on non-white backgrounds; also optimized file size by converting to 4-bit indexed-colour PNGs.

I would like to kindly request to reconsider. The capitalization is inconsistent within itself on this diagram in its present state.

1. In some cases obviously common nouns are overcapitalized like "OS/2 Application" ("application" is a common noun and is not a name of a specific Microsoft product and no MS documentation can override this self-evident truth).
2. In some other cases generic technical terms like "hardware abstraction layer" that is well-established in the industry well beyond Microsoft (see w:en:Hardware_abstraction#In_operating_systems) are overcapitalized. Just because Microsoft overcapitalizes generic common nouns in their documentation to make them look proprietary and exclusive doesn't mean that we all have to blindly copy this corporate propaganda on Wiki.
3. Some nouns are not capitalized ("drivers", "service"), yet some other like "Manager" are suddenly capitalized for no particular reason.

I think the best we can do is to decapitalize all common nouns to make this illustration self-consistent and align it with the spirit of Wiki NPOV. Nyq (talk) 23:07, 19 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]
