Hi Fredddie, there is a small mistake in the number plate. In Bengali part, you wrote ঘব instead of এন. আফতাবুজ্জামান (talk) 21:37, 14 September 2024 (UTC)Reply
I blame the font. I'll fix it! –Fredddie 21:41, 14 September 2024 (UTC)Reply
Thank you so much @Fredddie. Stud.asif (talk) 07:14, 17 September 2024 (UTC)Reply

Improving Irish route number signs

edit

Hi Freddie. I'd like to improve on the route number signs you made for Ireland, namely by correcting the dimensions in line with the TSM as well as aligning the colours used to match those used for other Irish road signs on Commons. You can see the exact differences here. I thought I'd just let you know before I went ahead and did anything, in case you have any thoughts or recommendations. Thanks! I'll take a look for myself, but have you seen measured drawings for these changes? –Fredddie 19:39, 16 November 2024 (UTC)Reply
Only the "start of motorway" signs have a working drawing (Other Information Signs, drawing F-330). The dimensions for the "Euro Route Panel" sign and the other "route marker" signs are given in Chapter 2 of the TSM. EthanL13 | talk 19:51, 16 November 2024 (UTC)Reply
No complaints from me. I'd offer to help, but I don't have the time or desire at the moment. –Fredddie 20:14, 16 November 2024 (UTC)Reply
No worries! The regional ones will take some time anyhow. EthanL13 | talk 20:31, 16 November 2024 (UTC)Reply
Following on from this, would you be able to change the road infobox colours to match? I don't believe I have the permissions to do so. And do you also have the link to the Transport New font you used for the regional road templates? Thanks. EthanL13 | talk 11:43, 20 November 2024 (UTC)Reply
I can do that. What are the hex codes? The Transport New font that I used is actually not correct. I read in the Ireland specs that Transport Heavy is used for all signs in Ireland whereas it's only used on black-on-white in the UK (Transport Medium is used on yellow-on-green there). There is an easy to find version of Transport Heavy, but honestly, it's garbage. I found this and it's much better. It has the correct weights we need. –Fredddie 17:54, 20 November 2024 (UTC)Reply
For the blue - 115EC6, green - 008445 and yellow - FFC90E. Indeed that's correct for our signs, and also in some other countries which have adopted Transport. My personal pick for the Transport Heavy font would AG Transport Heavy, it is more faithful to the working drawing of the font still in use today (in both Ireland and the UK).
I just have the regional route numbers left to do now. I was going to do these by hand, but then noticed a bot had been used to create them. The main change to these I'd like to make is the narrowing of the 'R' (the other change would be to correct the height) – however in Inkscape this would require a separate text box, and I imagine the bot would not be able to take it into account when aligning the route number. Do you think I should just ignore this for the time being and just go ahead with correcting the height? EthanL13 | talk 19:52, 20 November 2024 (UTC)Reply
Scratch that – it's far too much effort. I'll use the font you provided and modify the route templates you've made, then I'll make a request for the bot. EthanL13 | talk 13:11, 22 November 2024 (UTC)Reply
