Helmut Hofer is senior economist at the Institute for Advanced Studies in Vienna. In 1996, he earned his PhD from the University of Economics and Business Administration in Vienna. His main research areas are the analysis of the labor market and macroeconomic forecasting. He has worked on topics such as interindustry wage differentials, evaluating active labor market policy, microsimulation, severance payments, and aging. He has published his work in journals such as Regional Economics, Applied Economics, Labour Economics, Empirica, Journal of Manpower, Fiscal Studies, Population and Development Review, and Journal of Economics and Statistics.
