On his show a week or so ago, Patrick summed it up like this -- College Football is a big business similar to the NFL. Dabo and Clemson are the only team in the college ranks (less military academies) who forego using the transfer portal.

Patrick said it was comparable to an NFL team only using the draft and refusing to make trades or sign free agents. (Because this particular NFL Franchise always drafts the best of the best players. And the drafted players never get hurt or leave the team.)

Sounds like the Cowboys. Didn’t make any trades to shore up their roster and look at them now.

they traded a 4th rd pick for Mingo/7th today. That cost more than DHop did.

Yeah, I should have said in the offseason. Their season is essentially over now.

It is very easy to be a Monday morning QB. After the game is over it is easy to say what should work or not. However, recruiting HS players or the portal is a crap shoot. Same in the business where I work. Some hires work out and become high earners, others are good at best. Then there are the misfires. Don't really work out and won't leave on their own so buku time is spent by management trying to improve performance or building a case to terminate said employee. No different in college sports. One has a budget (limited dollars) and must adhere to rules. As a manager or Coach it is a difficult job to stay on track with young employees. Their wants and needs are much different than my generation. Makes getting results much more difficult than 20 years ago.

Glad it is Dabo and not some other Head Coach at Clemson. From my seat as a paying fan he does a ### fine job. Has my support.
