     James Loch of Drylaw was the son of John Loch and unknown daughter Wilkine.2 He married, firstly, Margaret Barclay on 11 October 1610.2 He married, secondly, Elizabeth Mure in 1634.2 He married, thirdly, Isobel Cunninghame McMath on 23 September 1640.3 He died in 1652.2
     He held the office of Burgess of Edinburgh.2 He also had four daughters by his third wife.2
