     Colonel Arthur Saunders Quill was born on 11 October 1834 at Scotland.1 He was the son of John Thomas Quill and Lucinda Mahoney.1 He married Mary Josephine Hawe circa 1859.1 He died on 31 August 1909 at age 74 at Send, Surrey, England.1 He was buried at St. Edward the Confessor, Sutton Park, Surrey, England.1
     He gained the rank of Ensign in November 1851 in the Royal Newfoundland Regiment.1 He gained the rank of Captain in 1860 in the Royal Canadian Rifle Regiment.1 He gained the rank of Major in 1869.1 He gained the rank of Lieutenant-Colonel in 1881.1 He retired from the military in 1883, with the rank of Colonel.1
