     Alfred Dyke Acland was born on 19 August 1858 at Killerton, Devon, EnglandG.1,2 He was the son of Sir Henry Wentworth Acland, 1st Bt. and Sarah Cotton.1 He married Hon. Beatrice Danvers Smith, daughter of Rt. Hon. William Henry Smith and Emily Danvers, Viscountess Hambleden, on 30 July 1885.1 He died on 22 March 1937 at age 78.1
     He gained the rank of Lieutenant-Colonel in 1910 in the Royal 1st Devon Yeomanry (Territorial Army.)1 He was commnader of the Base Depot Remounts in 1915.1 He held the office of Assistant Director, Labour in 1917.1 He was appointed Knight of Justice, Most Venerable Order of the Hospital of St. John of Jerusalem (K.J.St.J.)1 He was awarded the Croix de Guerre.1 He was Labour Commandant of the Australian Corps in 1918.1 He was appointed Commander, Order of the British Empire (C.B.E.) in 1920.1 He held the office of Justice of the Peace (J.P.) for Devon.1

     Sir Henry Wentworth Acland, 1st Bt. was born on 23 August 1815 at Killerton, Exeter, Devon, EnglandG.2 He was the son of Sir Thomas Dyke Acland, 6th/10th Bt. and Lydia Elizabeth Hoare. He married Sarah Cotton, daughter of William Cotton and Sarah Lane, on 14 July 1846.2 He died on 16 October 1900 at age 85 at Broad Street, London, EnglandG.2 He was buried on 19 October 1900 at Holywell Cemetery, Oxford, Oxfordshire, EnglandG.2

Laura Caroline Beatrice Smith was born on 9 September 1931.2 She was the daughter of William Henry Smith, 3rd Viscount Hambleden and Lady Patricia Herbert.3 She married Michael Charles Brand, son of Lt.-Col. John Charles Brand and Lady Rosabelle Millicent St. Clair-Erskine, on 27 July 1953.3 She died on 19 February 2000 at age 68.3
     Her married name became Brand. She lived in 2003.2

     Emily Danvers, Viscountess Hambleden was the daughter of Frederick Dawes Danvers.2 She married, firstly, Benjamin Auber Leach on 22 July 1854.2 She married, secondly, Rt. Hon. William Henry Smith, son of William Henry Smith and Mary Ann Cooper, on 13 April 1858.2 She died on 12 August 1913.2
     From 22 July 1854, her married name became Leach. From 13 April 1858, her married name became Smith. She was created 1st Viscountess Hambleden, of Hambleden, co. Buckingham [U.K.] on 10 November 1891, suo jure, with a special remainder to her male children by her second husband.2
