Charles Hope, 1st Earl of Hopetoun1

     Charles Hope, 1st Earl of Hopetoun was born in 1681.2 He was the son of John Hope of Hopetoun and Lady Margaret Hamilton.2 He married Lady Henrietta Johnstone, daughter of Sir William Johnstone, 1st Marquess of Annandale and Sophia Fairholm, on 31 August 1699.3 He died on 26 February 1742.2
     He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) for Linlithgowshire [Scotland] from 1702 to 1703.2 He was appointed Privy Counsellor (P.C.) [Scotland] in 1703.2 He was created 1st Viscount of Aithrie [Scotland] on 15 April 1703.2 He was created 1st Earl of Hopetoun [Scotland] on 15 April 1703.2 He succeeded as the 1st Lord Hope [Scotland] on 15 April 1703.2 He held the office of Lord-Lieutenant of Linlithgowshire between 1715 and 1742.2 He held the office of Representative Peer [Scotland] between 1722 and 1742.2 He held the office of Lord High Commissioner of the General Assembly of the Church of Scotland in 1723.2 He held the office of a Lord of Police, Scotland between 1734 and 1742.2 He was appointed Knight, Order of the Thistle (K.T.) in 1738.2 He held the office of Governor of the Bank of Scotland between 1740 and 1742.2

     Lady Frances Erskine was the daughter of John Erskine, 23rd/6th Earl of Mar and Lady Frances Pierrepont.1 She married James Erskine, son of James Erskine, Lord Grange and Rachel Chiesley, in 1740.1 She died on 20 June 1776.1
     Her married name became Erskine.

James Erskine1

     James Erskine was the son of James Erskine, Lord Grange and Rachel Chiesley.1 He married Lady Frances Erskine, daughter of John Erskine, 23rd/6th Earl of Mar and Lady Frances Pierrepont, in 1740.1 He died on 27 February 1785.1

Hon. James Floyer Erskine1

     Hon. James Floyer Erskine was the son of John Francis Erskine, 24th/7th Earl of Mar and Frances Floyer.2 He married Susan Kirkpatrick Sharpe, daughter of Charles Kirkpatrick Sharpe and Eleanora Renton, on 12 November 1796.2 He died on 15 May 1798, without issue.2
     He gained the rank of Captain in the 26th Cameron Regiment.2

John Francis Erskine, 24th/7th Earl of Mar1

     John Francis Erskine, 24th/7th Earl of Mar was born in 1741.1 He was the son of James Erskine and Lady Frances Erskine.1 He married Frances Floyer, daughter of Charles Floyer, on 17 March 1770 at Upway, Dorset, England.1,2 He died on 20 August 1825.1
     He retired from the military in 1770, with the rank of Captain, late of the 1st Horse.1 He succeeded as the 7th Earl of Mar [S., 1565] on 17 June 1824, restored by an Act of Parliament.1 He succeeded as the 24th Earl of Mar [S., c. 1115] on 17 June 1824, restored by an Act of Parliament.1

     Frances Floyer was the daughter of Charles Floyer.1 She married John Francis Erskine, 24th/7th Earl of Mar, son of James Erskine and Lady Frances Erskine, on 17 March 1770 at Upway, Dorset, England.1,2 She died on 20 December 1798 at Alloa, Clackmannanshire, Scotland.1,2
     Her married name became Erskine.

John Thomas Erskine, 25th/8th Earl of Mar1

     John Thomas Erskine, 25th/8th Earl of Mar was born on 18 June 1772.1 He was the son of John Francis Erskine, 24th/7th Earl of Mar and Frances Floyer.1 He married Janet Miller, daughter of Patrick Miller and Lindsay (?), on 17 March 1795.2 He died on 20 September 1828 at age 56.1
     He succeeded as the 25th Earl of Mar [S., c. 1115] on 20 August 1825.1 He succeeded as the 8th Earl of Mar [S., 1565] on 20 August 1825.1
