     Mary Clavering was born in 1685.1 She was the daughter of John Clavering.1 She married William Cowper, 1st Earl Cowper, son of Sir William Cowper, 2nd Bt. and Sarah Holled, in September 1706. She died on 5 February 1723/24.1
     From September 1706, her married name became Cowper.1 After her marriage, Mary Clavering was styled as Countess of Cowper on 20 March 1717/18.
