Initial upload
[edit]I'm uploading a first block of 10,281 values; with I hope more to follow.
In all I was able to find 14,076 values on the website. This first tranche are ones with items within 5km with an exact match on the name, initially restricted to items with a Vision of Britain place ID (P3616) because that's what I happened to have been working on immediately previously. But with luck, allowing a little spelling variation and matching against more settlements, it should be possible to match a lot of the rest. Jheald (talk) 22:19, 9 March 2017 (UTC)
Deviations from uniqueness
[edit]Multiple items with the same KEPN ID (P3639) value will occur if a county contains more than one place with the same name, for example Ashurst (Q2658590). In this case, rather than showing the locality of the item, KEPN shows a map of the whole of the UK, with red dots to mark the multiple places (which may sometimes be out of screen-view, for counties in the very south of England -- scrolling may be required).
The same can also happen if KEPN has more than one internal item for the same place, for example Lincoln (Q180057), even though there is only one item here.
The numerical identifiers KEPN uses internally to distinguish between such places can be found in the code of the web-pages. However, there seems to be no obvious way to construct a URL with them to access the site. Jheald (talk) 22:34, 9 March 2017 (UTC)
