εἰς τὸ τέλος ὑπὲρ τῶν ληνῶν τῷ Ασαφ ψαλμός  (To the choir-master. Melody: The Winepresses. Of Asaph.) In finem, pro torcularibus. Psalmus ipsi Asaph.
2 ἀγαλλιᾶσθε τῷ θεῷ τῷ βοηθῷ ἡμῶν ἀλαλάξατε τῷ θεῷ Ιακωβ 3 λάβετε ψαλμὸν καὶ δότε τύμπανον ψαλτήριον τερπνὸν μετὰ κιθάρας 4 σαλπίσατε ἐν νεομηνίᾳ σάλπιγγι ἐν εὐσήμῳ ἡμέρᾳ ἑορτῆς ἡμῶν 5 ὅτι πρόσταγμα τῷ Ισραηλ ἐστὶν καὶ κρίμα τῷ θεῷ Ιακωβ 6 μαρτύριον ἐν τῷ Ιωσηφ ἔθετο αὐτὸν ἐν τῷ ἐξελθεῖν αὐτὸν ἐκ γῆς Αἰγύπτου γλῶσσαν ἣν οὐκ ἔγνω ἤκουσεν 7 ἀπέστησεν ἀπὸ ἄρσεων τὸν νῶτον αὐτοῦ αἱ χεῖρες αὐτοῦ ἐν τῷ κοφίνῳ ἐδούλευσαν 8 ἐν θλίψει ἐπεκαλέσω με καὶ ἐρρυσάμην σε ἐπήκουσά σου ἐν ἀποκρύφῳ καταιγίδος ἐδοκίμασά σε ἐπὶ ὕδατος ἀντιλογίας διάψαλμα 2 Rejoice we all in honour of the God who aids us; cry out with gladness to the God of Jacob. 3 Ring psaltery, and tambour, beat the harp, sweetly sounding, and the zither! 4 A new month, and a full moon; blow the trumpet loud, to grace our festival! 5 Duty demands it of Israel; the God of Jacob has decreed it, 6 made it a law for Joseph, since the day he left Egypt, and gained the further shore. In a tongue unknown the message came to me; 7 I have eased his shoulder of the burden, freed his hands from the slavery of the hod! 8 Such deliverance I brought, when thou didst cry out to me in thy misery; gave thee audience under a canopy of cloud, and tested thee at the Waters of Rebellion. 2 Exsultate Deo adjutori nostro;
jubilate Deo Jacob.
3
Sumite psalmum, et date tympanum;
psalterium jucundum cum cithara.
4
Buccinate in neomenia tuba,
in insigni die solemnitatis vestræ:
5
quia præceptum in Israël est,
et judicium Deo Jacob.
6
Testimonium in Joseph posuit illud,
cum exiret de terra Ægypti;
linguam quam non noverat, audivit.
7
Divertit ab oneribus dorsum ejus;
manus ejus in cophino servierunt.
8
In tribulatione invocasti me, et liberavi te.
Exaudivi te in abscondito tempestatis;
probavi te apud aquam contradictionis.
10 Then let no strange worship find a home with thee; never let thy knees be bowed to an alien God; 11 am not I the Lord thy God, I, who rescued thee from Egypt? Open thy mouth wide, and thou shalt have thy fill. 12 So I spoke, but my people would not listen; Israel went on unheeding, 13 till I was fain to give their hard hearts free play, let them follow their own devices. 14 Ah, if my people did but listen to me! Did Israel but take me for their guide! 15 How lightly, then, would I bring their enemies low, smite down their persecutors! 16 The very men that were once the Lord’s enemies would be cringing at his feet; such, for ever, should be their destiny; 17 Israel should have full ears of wheat to nourish them, and honey dripping from the rock to their heart’s content. 9
Audi, populus meus, et contestabor te.
Israël, si audieris me,
10
non erit in te deus recens,
neque adorabis deum alienum.
11
Ego enim sum Dominus Deus tuus,
qui eduxi te de terra Ægypti.
Dilata os tuum, et implebo illud.
12
Et non audivit populus meus vocem meam,
et Israël non intendit mihi.
13
Et dimisi eos secundum desideria cordis eorum;
ibunt in adinventionibus suis.
14
Si populus meus audisset me,
Israël si in viis meis ambulasset,
15
pro nihilo forsitan inimicos eorum humiliassem,
et super tribulantes eos misissem manum meam.
16
Inimici Domini mentiti sunt ei,
et erit tempus eorum in sæcula.
17
Et cibavit eos ex adipe frumenti,
et de petra melle saturavit eos.
