Enzyme function discovery

Structure. 2008 Nov 12;16(11):1599-600. doi: 10.1016/j.str.2008.10.001.

Abstract

The search for an effective method for accurate, automated enzyme-functional annotation of protein sequences of unknown function is, in the minds of many, a Grail quest. Computational chemists, structural biologists, and mechanistic enzymologists now have teamed together to formulate an integrated, stepwise approach to enzyme function annotation (Kalyanaraman et al., 2008).
