REVIEWS

Review by anonymous (posted on 16-Jun-2005)

At first, you think this will be another Bogie gangster movie, but it evolves into a clever comedy. Gangster Bogey has to hide out in a boarding house full of eccentrics and little old ladies. He must learn to "fit in" and tolerate their meddling and mothering. Ann Sheridan is the love interest, and sings "You're Just An Angel in Disguise". (It becomes a recording hit, and is later sung by Bugs Bunny in one of the many 1940's Warner Bros. theatrical cartoons which parodied the current times). Gradually, Bogie begins to "soften" in his new environment. Bogie's comedic talents were regrettably under-utilized.
